PRESCOT Cables kick-off their season with two home games.
They entertain Fleetwood Freeport this Saturday (3pm) and on Tuesday, August 22, they meet Maine Road (7.45).
And Cables have also been drawn at home against St Helens Town in the Liverpool Senior Cup on October 31.
Meanwhile they wrapped up their pre-season preparation with two friendlies.
Daten 0 Prescot Cables 8
Warrington League side Daten provided a much sterner test for Cables than the scoreline suggests. A combination of new and established players gelled. The goals came from Paul Heavey (4), Kevin Garforth (3) and Gary Jenson.
Tetley Walker 3 Prescot Cables 3
Prescot completed their pre-season friendlies with this visit to NWCL Second Division side Tetley Walker. Cables could not match their performance against Daten and at times struggled to contain their opponents. Eddie Taylor put Cables ahead after 11 minutes, Steve Ellaby equalised after 33 minutes, Brian Griffiths gave Tetley Walker the lead after 38 minutes and Gary Jenson equalised a minute later in an entertaining first half. Barry Edwardson gave Tetley Walker the lead on 75 minutes after both sides and hit the woodwork but Kevin Garforth put Prescot level with two minutes to go. Even then it took a superb save from Prescot keeper Paul Dahl, in a man of the match display despite conceding three goals, to deny Tetley Walker victory.
