TNT just had the edge in a tense game with Windle in the St Helens Rounders League.
TNT have had a good run of late, while Windle were keen as ever to get two more points in the bag. Windle bowler Carmel Parr was in her usual excellent form and linked well with Jackie Kenny and Joanne Fairclough, to put several batters out at first post.
TNT followed suit with Sharon White, June Harden and Karen Savage making an equally effective triangle. With some excellent fielding from both sides there were only two full rounders, one from Michelle Hilton for TNT and from Angela Cunningham for Windle but TNT just had the advantage.
Meanwhile Bobbies Lane have reached the final of the Stanley Jones Cup.
With bowler Linda Graham away, they tried Sandra Smith as bowler and she excelled . Linking well with the experienced Pat Winstanley and with some deft stumping from Wendy Ward, they kept Grasshoppers scoring down. After their first innings, Bobbies were 3-5 down and when Grasshoppers scoring was again kept to a minimum, they had to bat to win the game. Despite several good rounders, Bobbies Lane were unable to match Grasshoppers score, leaving them to win the game.
St Helens has two teams travelling to the National Reps Tournament in Rotherham this Sunday. The teams are under 21s managed by Carrol Whittaker, and over 35s managed by Linda Graham.
Grasshoppers 10 Bobbies Lane 6, UG 6 Haydock 7, Grasshoppers 13 TNT 13, Sutton 7 Pilks Vikings 6, Burtonwood 13 Bobbies Lane 11, Burtonwood 15 Pilks Crusaders 5.
