I READ with interest the recent article concerning the demolition of Stand Grammar School and I deplore the fact that it appears that it is now regarded as having been predominantly a boys' school.
I admit that there were more years when that particular building took only boys, but it was not always so. I spent eight happy years there, from 1927 to 1935, and I maintain that in those years it was the best format for a school of that type. The first and sixth forms were mixed but between those years there were two boys' forms and two girls' forms for each year,
I regret that those years seem to be of little importance.
