A PROJECT which aimed to provide summer entertainment for 1,500 youngsters aged between 10 and 19 is proving a major success.
The Summer Splash project is funded by the National Youth Justice Board (£16,000) and money from Newton 21 SRB (£6,000).
The major youth work project is in partnership with Pathways and the Fairbrothers Estate Tenants Association, and St Helens Council on the Fairbrothers Estate at Newton-le-Willows.
Project Manager, Paul Griffiths, said: "So far around 1,500 young people have taken advantage of the initiative which is giving them the opportunity to create new experience in art and design."
Professional artist Tommy Leonard is masterminding a 30-metre long piece of art which the youngsters are all involved in creating. Other learning experiences include abseiling, rock climbing, map ready, mountain days and gorge walking.
