TWO men armed with sticks and hammers robbed ed security guards collecting money from a council rent office.
It happened at the rent offices in Chester Lane, Sutton, at about 4.30pm on Thursday, August 10. The guards were returning to the van when they were approached and threatened by the two men. During the incident one of the security men fell over and hurt his leg. The robbers drove off along Forest Road, Sutton Manor, in a green Rover, earlier reported stolen from Wigan. The car was abandoned in Feeney Street, Sutton Manor, and it is believed the men then got into a metallic red Ford Fiesta, later spotted in Jubits Lane. The driver of the car is described as white, in his 20s and clean shaven. He was wearing a Russian-type hat with flaps down the side.
