A HEARTBROKEN youngster grieving over his grandfather's death, was dealt another blow when thieves stole his treasured bike from the driveway of his gran's home.
Nine year old Lewis Battersby, from Newton, had left his adult-sized silver-coloured Robinson Racing BMX bike, a Christmas present from his parents, in the drive of his grandmother's Haydock home at 4.30pm on Saturday, August 12 while he went into the house.
When he went back out at 5pm, it had gone. Lewis' dad, Neil told the Star: "Lewis is so upset. He is still trying to get over losing his grandad who only died last week and now he has to deal with this as well. His bike was unusual as well -- it was handmade and one of only a small number in existence. He only got it at Christmas and we can't believe someone has done this."
Neil is now offering a £50 cash reward for any information leading to the bike's recovery. He can be contacted on 01925 224553.
