POLICE have issued a renewed appeal for information about an incident in which a man suffered facial injuries after being assaulted and robbed while out for a walk with his girlfriend and eight-year-old nephew.
The 25-year-old victim was approaching the arches near Carr Mill Dam at about 5pm on Saturday, July 22 when two men walked up to him. After asking him for a cigarette, one of the men punched him, knocking him to the ground, and stole his silver, Tag Heuer watch and about £60 in cash.
The attacker was white, about 5ft 10ins tall with dark-brown hair, a medium build and clean shaven. He was wearing a cream-coloured baseball cap but no shirt and spoke with a Liverpool accent. The second man was also white, about 5ft 6ins tall with dark, cropped hair and stubble. He was also bare-chested and wore blue tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Andy Ince at St Helens CID on 0151 777 6064 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
