A WORKER who helped himself to about £1,700 of his boss's cash from the shop where he worked may end up in jail.
Stephen Eve, 35, was bailed by Burnley magistrates until September 6 for a pre sentence report and was told by the bench all options would be open -- although they were thinking of prison.
Eve, of John Street, Barrowford, admitted theft from his employer between June 1 and July 3.
Dermot Woodhead, defending, said Eve had been robbing Peter to pay Paul and had intended to pay the money back. He was then unfortunately unable to do so.
Eve had telephoned the police himself to say his boss was on his way when he was about to be found out and said officers may as well go round. He made full and frank admissions.
The defendant lived with his father who was in poor health and who relied on him for support. He would now be relying on benefits.
