THEY say that three's a crowd, but one proud mum is celebrating after giving birth to a baby boy -- six years to the day when she had twins sons.

Catherine Douglas, 28, of Cartmell Avenue, Fern Gore, Accrington, gave birth to Paul Michael Anthony at Queens Park Hospital, Blackburn.

But when her identical twin sons William and Sam, who were enjoying their birthday, were told that they have received the best birthday present they could hope for in a little brother, they disagreed.

Grandma Elizabeth Goth, 50, of Fern Gore Avenue, said: "We told them that they had got a baby brother which was a great birthday present for them. Sam said that he had got an even better present -- a skateboard!"

The latest addition to the family arrived on his brothers' birthdays at odds of 365 to one.

He weighed in at 7lbs.4oz when he was born at 5.58pm on Wednesday, August 16.

Catherine also has another son James, eight, and lives with her partner Paul Sims.

Elizabeth added: "We were all too tired to celebrate on Wednesday, but everyone is really pleased. I now have ten grandsons and one granddaugher.

"Everyone was really surprised when the baby came when he did.

"He was due on August 13, but to arrive on the twins' birthday is very unusual.

"At least Catherine doesn't have to pay to have another birthday party now!" New baby Paul Anthony Michael Douglas with twins William and Sam and mun and dad Catherine Douglas and Paul Sims.
