BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness is closing in on St Etienne defender Lucien Mettomo.
Sources close to the club have revealed Rovers have made an enquiry about the 22-year-ol centre back. And a deal could be thrashed out for the Cameroon-born defender in the next couple of days as Souness aims to beef up his squad.
Mettomo is highly rated in France and was one of the key members in St Etienne's promotion winning squad last season.
The French First Division club are reluctant to part with a player who has come through their youth ranks.
But they could be persuaded if Rovers come up with a sizeable offer.
And there could be more transfer activity in the next few days as Rovers step up their efforts to land Paris St Germain striker Kaba Diawara.
The former Arsenal hit-man was at Brockhall with his agent on Saturday to talk over a one-year loan move to Ewood. And Rovers chief executive John Williams is confident of wrapping things up in the 48 hours.
"We've been busy on that one over the weekend and we've made good progress," said Williams.
