THE sponsor of Blackburn Rovers said it was deeply saddened by Jack Walker's death.
Simonstone-based Time Computers recently took over the sponsorship deal from CIS for the next four years.
"Jack Walker made a great contribution to Blackburn Rovers and we are deeply saddened to hear the news of his death," said Gearald mac Griogair, public relations manager. "Without him Rovers would not have been able to develop one of the most advanced stadiums in the country and enjoy the heady success that brought the first Premiership title ever to Blackburn."
"Although there have been a number of disappointments to contend with since then, we felt that our sponsorship was coming into being during a period of change and renewed optimism, marked by the appointment of Graeme Souness.
Meanwhile former sponsors CIS also offered its condolences: "As previous sponsors of the football club, CIS would like to express its sadness at the loss of such a kind-hearted and generous man," said a statement.
