I WAS appalled to read of the Rev Phil Gough (LET, August 15), advocating retaining discriminatory employment practices when the European Human Rights- legislation is introduced into the UK later this year.
As a Christian minister, I would have thought he should be all too well aware of the consequences of stoking up and feeding intolerance.
If the examples of possible conflict he cites, including the improbable scenario of an atheist seeking work as a church secretary, are being widely used to exclude people from employment, the sooner the law is changed the better.
