SHEER desperation must be setting in at the Regeneration Camp (LET, August 17).
The sycophantic sound bites from Civic Society chief Doug Chadwick, almost blur yet another terrifying demonstration by regeneration chairman Councillor Ashley Whalley, that Blackburn with Darwen Council will stop at nothing in their attempts to discredit the traders of the town.
The 'small number' of objectors that he refers to amount to more than 250 traders who are represented by Blackburn District Chamber of Trade, whose executive oppose the closure of Church Street to intercirulatory traffic.
He does not seem to understand that Blackburn needs the motorist in order for us, the largest employer in the town, to prosper.
