A TOWN proved it is "streets ahead" when it comes to having fun.
The annual Haslingden Street Fair brought a party atmosphere to the centre as large crowds milled around stalls, games and enjoyed the thrill of the fair on some hair-raising fairground rides. Organiser Nick Dunnachie, Haslingden's tourism assistant, said: "The idea is to give local charity groups the chance to get themselves known and raise money for a whole host of worthy causes.
"The fairground was very popular and everyone had a good time."
Nick paid tribute to Kaye Ridings, of St James' Church, and Margaret Haworth, of St Peter's, for their help in staging the event. Deardengate was closed to allow more than a dozen stalls to set up shop.
The fair, which has been staged for more than 20 years, ran over the weekend.
