AS a child, I always enjoyed a visit to Corporation Park, especially the conservatory. The air was warm and fragrant with the scent of flowers.

Mostly pelargoniums, I think, also real palm trees -- an exotic sight to young eyes.

The sound of echoing feet on the iron grille was attractive.

Those responsible for its current vandalised state have no self-control, no self-respect, no standards or values and a contempt for all authority.

The uncouth have taken over.
