RESIDENTS of Witton and District are justified in their remarks about the noise vibrations from the Sunday Mela Concert in Witton Park.

This was way over the top, an intrusion into one's privacy. Television and conversation was overpowered by the repetitive drumming and wailing for hours.

Noise abatement laws should apply to all parks and open air events. Fixed noise decibels must be set for all equipment and if abused then a 'fixed penalty' of X number of pounds against the organisation.

To compare the noise from Ewood Park against the installation of five microphones set at maximum output is not acceptable. It's the equipment and the personnel using it, not the wind.

Why not have the next event on the 'Old Blacks' football ground (Lammack) preferably with an east wind, then Councillor Whalley will understand why we complain.
