I HAVE brought to the notice of both a councillor and officers of the Outdoor Amenities Department the continued degeneration of Sunnyhurst Woods, with no apparent long-term policy to arrest the problem or indication of the costs involved.
Sunnyhurst Wood, once regarded as the Jewel in the Crown in the Borough, is showing signs of absolute neglect with terminal consequences.
The main problem relates to the general blockage of drains and gulleys which allows water to either wash away the surface of paths or eventually cause landslides.
Sunnyhurst Wood has no one carrying out tree doctoring or cropping, with many paths overgrown with foliage and branches.
People who use the woods on a daily basis are aware of the state and deterioration.
So please put some resources back into the woods and introduce an official programme for drainage and path restoration as an ongoing item.
To use council jargon, let's have some regeneration.
Name and address received.
