BIG Breakfast cameras turned the spotlight on nervous exam hopefuls at a Pendle high school as they found out their GCSE grades live on air in front of millions of TV viewers.
The zany Channel 4 breakfast show visited Edge End High, Nelson, today.
Sixteen-year-olds Alison Bennett and Kay Mason won the chance to take part in the game Play Your Grades Right and find out at least some of their exam results.
They won a preliminary round by correctly guessing the grades of fellow pupil Jamil Ahmed, 16, of Portland Street, Nelson, who was the first student at Edge End to get his results. He was told on air by presenter Mike McClean that he got eight passes mainly at grades B and C.
Alison and Kay were given their first exam grade and then had to guess whether the grades in other subjects were higher or lower. In the end Alison, of Kibble Bank, Burnley, won the prize of a DVD player.
She got a B in art and design, C in literature, D in technology, EE in double science and F in maths. Kay, of Chapelhouse Road, Nelson, managed Bs in literature, art and design, and language, and a C in history. "It's a bit of fun," said Alison.
