TOBY the Cairn Terrier is a soap opera addict.
The playful pooch lets out a high-pitch howl every time he hears the Coronation Street theme tune.
"He never fails to sing along," says owner Christine Muldoon, of Pritchard Street, Blackburn.
"He even seems to know when it is about to come on.
"He runs to sit in front of the television and cocks his head to one side ready for action when the advertisements are still on.
"It really is unbelievable."
Little Toby, aged 17-months, has also been known to let out similar, but much quieter cries when Brookside starts.
But his interest in soaps doesn't extend to the plot -- in between the opening titles and credits he loses interest.
Greengrocer Christine, who is married to Michael, added: "We love to watch the soaps and it has obviously rubbed off on our dog.
"It's really comical to watch him and it has become a bit of a party trick. Toby is a real character and we wouldn't change him for the world, but it would be great to know why he does it." The dog has some other interesting character traits.
One is a compulsion to steal socks, and the other, a little less unusual, is a tendency to ignore calls to return when it is let off the lead!
