REPORTS continue to be good from all local waters in the excellent weather conditions.

Last Wednesday evening the Bury Society Junior Section fished the Gill Trophy on the Island Lodge.

Ian Gough fishing peg 27 on the streamside, won his third match of the four match series with quality bream and skimmers to weigh 2-10-4. In second place Mark Frost peg 25 with 1-5-13. Third Wain Grimshaw peg 20, 1-5-2, fourth Dean Thomas peg 22, 0-5-15 and fifth Damian Jolly peg 24, 0-4-2.

The match was fished in excellent conditions with fish feeding on the surface, all competitors received prizes.

Also on Sunday, August 13, Hennon AC fished a fifteen peg match on Parkers streamside. Skimmer bream formed the bulk of catches. Stuart Rogers had top weight 13-6-0. In second place Keith Holland 5-10-0. Total weigh caught 42lb.

Despite the nights closing in, the Thursday evening Target Match was held on the Island Lodge. Top weight fell to Dave Griffiths, 15-5-12, In second place Stephen Gent, 9-5-4, and third John Fletcher 8-0-8.

On Sunday, Scapa Porritt AC fished the Barry Glover Memorial Pairs match on Cliffe Reservoir at Stubbins.

Chris Metcalf had 120 fish weighing 5-4-0 he paired with Steve Kenton who had 80 fish weighing 4-4-0 won the match. Arnold Waters had second individual best weight 4-5-0.

On Saturday the Third Division National championship took place on the Upper River Nene. Eighty seven teams of twelve participated in a river running clear with heavy overnight rain. The heavy bream weights of the previous week did not materialise and carp & tench formed the leading weights apart from the second placed Individual.

The top three teams gained promotion to Division Two next year.

BURY AND DISTRICT SEA ANGLERS

THE last club trip on Wednesday, August 16 aboard Lady Gwen ll was supposed to be a bass trip but due to sea conditions the party fished in the shelter of Puffin Island with plenty of small pollack, but repeatedly plagued with seals taking the fish caught of the hooks. Due to the Killikegs trip, the September meeting of the club has been brought forward to Monday, September 4 at the Waterloo Hotel, Manchester Road at 8pm. New and old members are welcome to attend. The next club trip on Sunday, August 27 aboard Lady Gwen ll a twelve hour trip sailing at 7am.

BURY SOCIETY SENIOR SECTION

THE next club match the officials trip takes place this coming Saturday, August 26 to Cudmore Fisheries, Brewsters Canal pegs 1 to 20. The fishing is 10 minutes from Juntion 15 on the M6 Motorway, barblers hooks only.

The party meet at Fishermans Way at 7.30pm, draw is 9am, fish 10am to 3pm.
