CONEY Green High School pupils who wanted to keep their brains busy over the summer holidays met up with Euro MP Gary Titley in Radcliffe Library.

As part of a Summer School for Gifted and Able students, the selected teenagers have been involved in a series of extra "classes" over the holiday period.

Much of the work they have done has been followed up by visits to their local library to use the facilities there, especially the Internet, in order to help them in their future education.

Mr Titley caught up with them while they were in the process of e-mailing details of a project to design their own market to the borough's twin town, Angouleme, in France.

He is pictured at the computer with (back, from left) Stephanie Fawcett (12), of Moorside Avenue, Ainsworth, Chris Banner (11) of Westminster Avenue, Radcliffe and (front from left) Aimee Bevan (12) of Chelsea Avenue, Radcliffe and Matthew Uren (11) of Lever Street, Radcliffe.

Chairman of Bury Council's lifelong learning, Coun Trevor Holt, said: "The work the pupils have been doing should really stand them in good stead when the new term begins. Local libraries serve as a brilliant and comprehensive resource for everyone in the community."
