THE old Limerick pub was demolished for runway development at Burtonwood air base during the 1939-45 world war.
And senior citizen Tommy Ashton wonders if anyone else can remember that old watering hole.
Tommy, from Hard Lane, St Helens, recalls that the pub was run by two elderly sisters who served ale in a jug from the barrel in the back yard.
Can any old-timer remember the names of those sisters, wonders Tommy.
And here's a further question of my own: Which was the last pub in St Helens, or its satellite districts, to serve up the life-giving fluid from a jug?
IF you think you know the answer, drop me a line at the Star?
