THE mis-naming of streets - after replacement signs are erected - is not, it seems, confined to Parr and Billinge. I've quoted a couple of glaring instances recently, in expressing annoyance at this sloppiness. Now, Walter Fletcher from Rainhill has become equally miffed since St David Close, where he lives, acquired an additional letter in being re-dubbed St Davids Close. The new version popped up when the original nameplate was wrecked by vandals. Walter alleges that his attempts to persuade the council to correct it have fallen on deaf ears. He claims to have been told that, in any case, the exact name was in doubt..."despite St David Close being on the deeds of my house, in the A to Z street guide and the district street plans in the reference library." Our annoyed Rainhillian considers correct street-naming to be of great importance.
I'LL go along with that! Perhaps he should send a protest letter to the Mayur of St Helen?
