ST ANNES 196-7 KENDAL 255-4
KENDAL were put into bat and Russ Bradley must have regretted his decision.
David Barnes and Terry Hunte featured in a second wicket partnership of 136 before Barnes was run out for 69.
Prolific run scorer Terry Hunte scored 115 not out hitting 10 fours and two sixes.
Bradley tried seven different bowlers in various combinations to little avail because only Dave Callaghan took any wickets. He finished with 3-78 from 19 overs.
In reply, St. Annes started badly losing their first wicket at nine when Gareth Evans was adjudged LBW to Kendal's opening pace bowler, Adrian Potts for four.
Nevertheless, Adrian Darlington and Dave Callaghan restored the balance with a 73 runs partnership for the second wicket before Darlington was caught by Paul Wilson off David Barnes for 36.
Dave Callaghan and Steven Twist kept St. Annes in the game with a 59 run partnership for the third wicket before Callaghan was caught by Ross Veenstra off Alan Dugdale for 54. At this point St. Annes got further behind the asking rate, despite Steven Twist making 23 and Adam Cotton an unbeaten 22.
In the end St. Annes had to settle for a losing draw, and 3 points to Kendal's 8 points.
Looking Forward
This weekend is the August Bank Holiday and St. Annes have two games in the space of 3 days. On Saturday they travel to Leyland who are 3 places below them but there is a massive 50 points gap between the two teams. Although Leyland recorded their second win of the season against Lancaster last Saturday, providing St. Annes play to their full potential they should win.
There is no reason why they can't win two matches over the Bank Holiday programme because on Monday they entertain bottom club, Preston at Vernon Road, who have only won one match all season.
