A JUNIOR soccer team from Blackpool took a tournament at the Liverpool Academy of Football by storm winning every single game.

Foxhall Under 8's won the tournament organised by Liverpool FC and Stuart Gelling, their director of coaching, in fine style after a thrilling win in the final.

Teams from all over the North West took part in this prestigious tournament with Foxhall Under 7's and Under 8's as representatives from Blackpool.

The tournament was played on a two league basis where the top two teams from each league went through to the semi final. All the teams tried really hard with great spirit and discipline shown throughout.

Foxhall's Under 8's started slowly but still managed a 1-0 win to get off to a great start.

Two draws followed, then two wins against Country Park and Shaw Villa saw the Under 8's finish second in the group.

In the semi-final Foxhall played Berwick Rovers in a very tight match with both teams played some excellent football.

The score was 1-1 at full time, no-one managed to score in extra time so it went to penalties.

Foxhall won 5-4 after an excellent save by Kieran O'Boyle the Blackpool team's goalkeeper.

In the final Foxhall played Hawarden who were the competition favourites. The match was very entertaining with a very high standard of football being played.

Foxhall scored first then, after a dubious penalty decision Hawarden equalised, with only seconds to go.

Adam Naylor played an excellent through-ball to Jack Wealthall to calmly slot home the winner.

This was the fifth straight tournament win for Foxhall's Under 8's.

Foxhall once again played good team football with excellent passing and movement.

Credit to all the managers and players for their behaviour and attitude, which made this event a success.

The undefeated Foxhall team was :- K O'Boyle, L Rawcliffe, J Lambert, R Tanser, B Gunn, A Naylor, J Weatherall, M Collins and S O'Melia.
