A 61-year-old man was robbed as he walked around Heysham at 3am on Saturday morning.
A man approached him on the junction of Heysham Road and Whinnysty Lane, asking for cash.
When he claimed he had none, the other man attacked him, punching him to the ground and stealing £10.
The victim suffered a swollen and bloody neck. The attacker is described as male, white, 25 years old, of stocky build, 5ft 7in tall, with dark hair, wearing a T-shirt and carrying a cloth bag.
