LANCASHIRE County Council is inviting ordinary folk to apply for the chance to become a lay magistrate.
A spokesman said for the Lancashire Advisory Committee said: "Magistrates must be of good character and have personal integrity, as well as a good knowledge and understanding of the local community."
Although there are certain exceptions, anyone aged between 27 and 65 is eligible to apply and there is no requirement for formal qualifications.
Lay magistrates are not paid for their duties but may claim expenses for travelling, subsistence and financial loss.
Anyone interested in applying should contact the secretary of the advisory committee on 01772 263542.
