SPECULATION in the rugby league trade press that pack star Tim Street wants to leave Leigh is well wide of the mark, according to Football Director Steve Blakeley.
"Nothing could be further from the truth," he says. "It's true Tim hasn't signed a contract for next season, but there's nothing sinister in that.
"We've not yet been able to reach an agreement. Tim wants the best dollar he can get, which we understand, but we can't afford to pay what we've not got. I'm certain that a compromise will be reached."
Talks are also on-going with the likes of Dave Whittle, Simon Baldwin, Alan Cross, Andy Fairclough, Andy Leathem and Paul Norman.
"These things take time, but we'll get there in the end," Blakeley adds. "I fully expect the vast majority to last season's squad to re-sign."
