TYLDESLEY RU kicked the new season off in style with a comprehensive 26-0 victory away at Ormskirk.
Early pressure from the home side was met with some solid defence from the Tyldesley side. The Tyldesley back row of Harrop, Berrisford and Worsfold snuffed out any chances Ormskirk had of scoring.
After 22 mintues Tyldesley opened the scoring with a sweeping movement that saw the forwards and backs combine to allow last season's leading try scorer Gary Corbett to open his account. Tyldesley continued to play all the rugby and a infringement by Ormskirk allowed prop Howard Hughes to crash over for a try from a tap penalty move.
The second period saw Tyldesley again repell a early Ormskirk onslaught and a swift counter attack saw subsitute winger John Lillywhite touching down for Tyldesley's third try. The home side then began to run out of ideas and steam and a good clearance kick by Eddie Wallbank allowed Lee West to gather the ball at the lineout and set up Lee Cunliffe for the final try of the afternoon.
Wallbank landed three out of four conversions in a good day for the Well Street boys.
