ENCOURAGED by Tuesday night's unexpected win at Southport, Leigh RMI are planning for more of the same at Kettering Town tomorrow.

Life in the Nationwide Conference has been an uncomfortable experience so far, but the 2-1 win at Haig Avenue lifted them to 11th place.

"We knew it was going to be a big challenge for us and from what I've seen so far, it's going to turn out that way," says manager Steve Waywell.

"There was a big improvement between the first game and the second. We showed a lot of character at Southport."

But they will have to do it without former Welsh international Clayton Blackmore who has left Hilton Park.

Waywell's major injury worry for tomorrow's trip is striker Tony Black who hobbled off at Southport with ankle trouble.

Waywell must also decide whether to keep faith with new keeper Craig Dootson or recall Dave Felgate.

No sooner will the Kettering game be over and Leigh must start to prepare for Monday's home game with cash-strapped Scarborough.

Leigh won't know until late today (Friday) if the Bank Holiday game will go ahead as the Pirates are holding a creditor's meeting to vote on a CVA (creditors voluntary agreement) that would protect the club from being wound up.
