GRAEME Souness today pledged to give Jack Walker the best send-off possible by beating Norwich tomorrow.
Rovers will bring the curtain down on a traumatic week by saying an emotional farewell to Mr Walker at Ewood.
And Souness has vowed to pull out all the stops to ensure the tributes conclude in the perfect finale.
"It's going to be a very big day and it's vitally important we get a result for Jack," said Souness.
"But I'm sure our players will respond to the occasion.
"We know how important it is for everyone tomorrow.
"And the biggest tribute we can pay Jack is to win it for him.
"It's going to be a very emotional day because I don't remember anyone involved in football having such an influence on one club.
"I know people say no-one is bigger than the club itself but in our case I think Jack actually was." Rovers need no motivating for a game which is certain to have a unique atmosphere.
But Souness's biggest fear is his players may become too pumped up by the emotions of the day.
"The players have to find a happy medium," said Souness.
"On the one hand they are going to be so motivated to do well for Jack and everyone connected with the club.
"But we can't afford to lose sight of the task itself, which is to get the three points.
"So it's my job to make sure they are right."
Souness was desperately disappointed by the way his side performed in Tuesday night's Worthington Cup clash against Rochdale at Spotland.
But he will send his side out with a clear message tomorrow: 'Go out and repeat the performance you put in against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season.'
"In midweek we were very disappointing and there were several reasons you can look at to suggest why that happened," said Souness.
"But we played very well in our last home game and we have to set about our business in exactly the same way tomorrow.
"Norwich haven't scored a goal yet this season which is a bit ominous because it's only a matter of time before they do.
"We've got to make sure that doesn't happen against us."
