GEOFF Foley spends the working week playing the numbers game as a stockbroker and you need a head for figures to keep track of his recent scores.
The Burnley professional went into today's game at Accrington with three successive Transco Lancashire League centuries behind him.
That's earned him one club record and Mudassar Nazar's record aggregate of 1,160 runs in the 1984 season is now within the Queenslander's sights.
"He's been playing really well. He's been a wonderful addition. Our league position isn't great but what he's done for the young lads is tremendous and you can't argue with nearly 1,000 runs at this stage," said Burnley captain Andy McLeod.
McLeod is currently sidelined with a knee injury and Foley has led from the front by taking over the skipper's job.
And Burnley are hoping his purple patch extends to tomorrow's derby clash with Lowerhouse at Turf Moor.
"It's usually one apiece every year. They won the first game so hopefully we can win tomorrow.
"I love these games and if we beat Lowerhouse they can finish the season for me," added McLeod, who will have to watch from the sidelines.
Burnley would have liked to bring Foley back next year but it looks unlikely that he will be returning for a summer's cricket over here.
McLeod confirmed: "It's 80-90 per cent certain that he won't be coming back because of family commitments.
"He's going to leave it as late as he can but he's got a three-year-old daughter who will be starting school." Beating Lowerhouse and setting a new club record would be a decent legacy to leave and even though Burnley are languishing in the bottom half of the table, McLeod feels there has been progress this season through the continuing development of young players like James Anderson, David Brown, Ben Law, Ian Whitehead and Steve Holden.
He added: "I don't really mind as long as the young lads are playing well and giving 100 per cent ever week."
With a young side and a possible new ground on the horizon at Fulledge, following Burnley Football Club's approach to buy the Turf Moor ground, the future for the club should be bright.
And McLeod, the third generation of the family to play for Burnley, backs the members' support for the ground switch.
"In our situation, and it's the same for most clubs, if anyone offered you this chance you would be foolish not to take it," he said.
Tomorrow's fixtures: Burnley v Lowerhouse, Church v Rishton, Colne v Nelson, East Lancs v Todmorden, Enfield v Accrington, Ramsbottom v Bacup, Rawtenstall v Haslingden.
