I HATE to be the one to buck the trend, but as a Witton resident I thought last Sunday's Mela was superb.
The music was first rate, far more entertaining than the boy-band dross that usually wafts over from the funfairs.
Many thanks to the council for allowing the event and to the musicians who allowed me to spend the afternoon in my back yard enjoying the show. More of the same, please, or maybe next year we could also have a reggae festival or one showcasing African music.
Finally, it is wrong to compare the noise generated by the Mela with that generated by Rovers fans -- after all, the Mela was packed with thousands of people enjoying themselves.
