RAWTENSTALL skipper Keith Roscoe broke the club's bowling record that has stood since 1921.

Roscoe -- a Lancashire Evening Telegraph columnist -- took five wickets in the game against Haslingden at Bacup Road yesterday to take his total for the season to 73.

The slow left armer beat Tom Waller senior's mark which was set 79 years ago.

"I'm really pleased to have done it," said Roscoe.

"I knew I was getting close and I didn't want to go to the last game of the season without breaking the record because of the weather at this time of the year."

It's the first time a Lancashire League bowling record has fallen for over 20 years.

It was a day of landmarks for the Rawtenstall team as wicketkeeper Peter Hanson broke the club record too.

He now has 41 victims and leads the chase for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph tankard.

And popular professional Matthew Mott hit 45 to break the 1,000-run barrier.

Meanwhile, East Lancs' veteran seam bowler Ian Haworth took a hat-trick in a spell of four wickets in five balls as East Lancs beat Todmorden yesterday.

And Bacup professional Adam Dale went through the 100-wicket barrier yesterday at Ramsbottom.
