BOLTON 1
Whitlow's sweet strike MIKE Whitlow isn't known for his goal-scoring feats but his winner at Tranmere was the sweetest of moments not just for the skipper, but also for his manager Sam Allardyce.
Whitlow struck eight minutes inot the second half as Bolton gained revenge for last year's bitter two legged Worthington Cup semi-final clashes with Rovers.
Allardyce still carries the scars even to the extent of getting his men straight off the pitch and onto the bus after yesterday's excellent win.
Whitlow's goal provided one of the few exciting moment in a dour contest, the full back squeezing a shot home after good work from Gareth Farrelly.
Tranmere had the bulk of possession but couldn't penetrate the Bolton defence brilliant marshalled by Mark Fish.
The win is Bolton's fourth league and Cup success on the bounce and Allardyce can only be delighted to see his injury ravaged squad standing a proud third in Division One.
