This week's young reviewer, eleven year old Sarah Perry, attended the Summer Literacy Project at Moorland High School, Darwen... AFTER ten years of battling with Troy, the men of the Ithacan army are sailing home when they stop at an island to pick up fresh food and water.
But little do they know what else they will find there and what adventures they will have.
This is a gripping tale of ancient Greece, told by the old story-teller, in which Odysseus, the captain of the fleet, is the hero, using his wits to escape from some very sticky situations and dreadful villains.
My favourite bit is when they are trapped in a cave by the terrifying Cyclops, but you will have to read it yourself to find how they get out of that one!
I would recommend the book as a really good read, that may not look too promising on the outside, but is a great action story when you get into it. By Sarah Perry, aged 11. Darwen Moorland High School. The Voyager's Return, by Peter Weigall, published by The Good Company for Children Co, Ltd.
