THE oldest and youngest members of Burnley Junior Alliance Band were presented with plaques to mark their near 100 per cent attendance record of concerts and rehearsals.
A concert was held at Barnes Court, a sheltered housing scheme in Brunshaw, when George Clegg, 74, and Matthew Foster, nine, receives their awards. George, who plays the E-flat bass has attended all of the band's 53 concerts and rehearsals in the last year and Matthew, a baritone player, has missed just two.
Samantha Emmott, the band's principal cornet player, who has been with the band for eight years was also presented with a long service plaque. Presentations were made by the Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley Coun Rafique Malik and his wife Nasreen.youngsters."
