TRAFFIC counts and accident figures are to be obtained as the first stage towards possible traffic calming measures in Rosegrove, Burnley.
Residents sent a 368 name petition to the council calling for serious consideration to be given to traffic calming measures throughout the area.
They said they were needed to prevent potential accidents.
It is the fourth year that they have made the request and point out that they have a number of busy roads in the area including Gannow Lane, Rosegrove Lane, Lowerhouse Lane and Liverpool Road.
Members of the planning and environment committee were told that when the statistics were obtained the scale of the problem would be assessed and an area-wide scheme prepared for inclusion in the county local safety schemes programme.
Coun Harry Brooks commented: "When you have a petition with 368 signatures this is all we can do. Then it is up to the county, it might get recognition or not.
"The problems here are the problems right across the town, there is widespread concern in Rosehill and that is in the list."
