A LASER slide show and a display of devils and angels shooting pitchforks and arrows will be among the new attractions when the Blackpool Illuminations opens its annual blaze of colour tomorrow night.
Top teen band Westlife are due to flick the switch on the glittering six-mile display after a live performance for crowds in Talbot Square.
There'll also be music from singer Billy Piper, Paul Carrock, of Mike and the Mechanics and girl group Bond at the show, to be broadcast on Radio Two between 8.30 and 9.30pm.
The biggest new attractions are a laser and slide show and the 'Fountain Fantasia,' 28 showers of lights that change into octopuses, seahorses and mermaids.
Blackpool's Heaven and Hell nightclub has sponsored one of the new displays of naughty devils and angelic cupids shooting pitchforks and arrows across the road at each other.
At a preview last night, Mike Chadwick, of Blackpool Tourism, said about eight million people are expected to see the free show this season.
An extra £2.5million has been invested in this year's show, on top of the £10million equipment used every year.
The huge display uses half a million lightbulbs, with an electricity bill of £1,000 for every night of the two month show, sponsored by Norweb.
