A FURIOUS walker has slammed cricket and soccer teams who use Pleasington Playing Fields for leaving mounds of rubbish at the beauty spot.
Andrew Bennett (pictured) walks his two dogs in the fields every day and he says he is sick of the sight of litter.
Mr Bennett, 44, of St Helier Close, Blackburn, said: "Every time they have a big event at the playing fields they leave bags of rubbish behind. It is an absolute disgrace.
"Every Sunday there are hundreds of people down here playing cricket and when they leave there is rubbish everywhere."
Mr Bennett added: "These people are completely self-centred. The fields are for everybody to use and it is not asking too much of people to take their rubbish with them when they leave.
"Not only does it look a complete mess but the rubbish is also a danger to the wildlife.
"If an animal ate the rubbish it could choke on it and there are also broken bottles everywhere."
"The council should put more bins on the playing fields and there are not enough facilities." A spokesman for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council said: "Normally the playing fields are cleared of litter on a Monday but because of the bank holiday there weren't cleared until Tuesday this week.
"However, we would urge people who use the playing fields to take their litter home with them or dispose of it thoughtfully."
