FEARS of children jabbing themselves with used syringes prompted an urgent report into to the disposal of clinical waste. Plans for a new system of collecting and distributing needles followed a number of disturbing cases of needles being left for children to "play with" in Accrington. The risks of children contracting Aids or hepatitis through discarded syringes terrified health experts.
