A COMMUNITY project to reclaim four acres of land at Blackburn's Park Farm estate is among the latest batch of entries for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch awards.
The area has become overgrown after years of neglect and for the past six years a group of residents have been clearing paths and creating a park.
The project has been funded by grants from Iceland, Green Link, Tidy Lancashire, the Scout Association, Transco, Grass Roots and the Mersey Basin Trust.
Karen Woods, project co-ordinator, said: "Six years on and we're still going strong."
Grimewatch co-ordinator Lynn Schofield added: "If you have a project that you think is worth celebrating then we want to hear about it. Or if you know someone who is doing good work for the environment and would like to nominate them for Grimebuster or Junior Grimebuster of the Year then let us know."
Grimewatch is supported by the Tidy Britain Group, Groundwork, BAe Systems and the Environment Agency.
For more information contact Lynn by telephone on 01254 678678 ext 244, fax on 01254 680429 or e-mail on grimewatch@lancashire.newsquest.co.uk or by post at Grimewatch, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Newspaper House, High Street, Blackburn, BB1 1HT.
