GREAT Harwood professional Mark Harvey will be hoping that Big Brother is watching out for him tomorrow.

Mark's Great Harwood side need Jonathan's Earby to do them a huge favour in their quest for a first Ribblesdale League title in 100 years.

Ribblesdale Wanderers have the title in their grasp, leading Harwood by 10 points with two games remaining.

But the Clitheroe outfit have a tricky test away at Earby tomorrow, where the league's leading run scorer, Jonathan Harvey, is out to prove a few points before his future at the club is settled one way or another.

Mark said: "Jonathan will have to play very well if Earby are to beat them.

"They are a very strong side, having added David O'Neill and Michael Ward to a side which has come second for the last couple of years.

"But ee got ourselves into a position to win the league when we played them last weekend.

"On the day we were not good enough, although we didn't get the best of the conditions. We probably shouldn't have started but we were desperate to get a game in."

Although matters are largely out of Harwood's hands, they will be keen that the title is not handed to their rivals on a plate. That means overcoming another strong side, in the shape of Peter Sleep's Ramsbottom Cup winners Read.

"All we can do is win our game and hope that they slip up. But they lost at Settle and there's no reason why that can't happen again," he added.

And Harvey has something of a career obstacle to overcome himself, after having been released by Lancashire.

But he is hopeful of still making a career in county cricket.

"I've still got a point to prove to myself and asomething to offer another county. I'm quite prepared to get on the phone and do some spadework and I'm quite prepared to have trials.

"I'm obviously disappointed to leave Lancashire because I've always wanted to play for them.

"But over the last couple of years I haven't had a lot of opportunities when I thought I have deserved them at times.

"I haven't had a run in the side after I have done well or been playing well.

"And I don't really know the strength of junior cricket in the county, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of young batsmen coming through." Harvey expects to talk about his future with Great Harwood within the next week. Meanwhile, Clitheroe professional Dexter Fitton expects to make a decision about his future at the club before the final game of the season.

He said: "I've got a completely open mind about it. The committee are going to come back with an offer next week and w've agreed that it will be sorted out by next Saturday."
