KEEP up the good work but keep your feet on the ground - that's the message from Andy Preece as the high-flying Shakers look down from second place in the Division Two.

The Bury boss has been delighted with the way his charges have begun the season but is well aware that the campaign is only in it's infancy - four games gone - and that a lot can happen between now and next May.

The 4-1 home defeat by Wrexham has been well and truly put behind them with two comprehensive victories and Preece is keen for his side to carry on their superb start at newly-promoted Peterborough tomorrow afternoon.

"Everyone's buzzing at the club but to be fair it's been that way since Steve Redmond and I took over," he said.

"No one's getting carried away it's early days yet but we have a togetherness and win, lose of draw we carry on as always.

"The secret is to keep working hard in training and carrying it over to Saturday afternoon.

"We're not going around saying that we're better players than we were last season - we're the same team - but so far we've been consistent and barring the Wrexham game all the players have performed to their full potential - that's what we need to carry on doing."

It's not just the results but the quality of football that has been impressing the Gigg Lane faithful with the twin strikeforce of Bhaichung Bhutia and Ady Littlejohn on top of their form.

"There's no secret, everyone in the team know their jobs and have been doing them," added Preece.

"Defensively we're well organised and up the field we have plenty of options with Bhaichung and Ady doing well.

"They are both doing really well and you never know what they are going to do but all the players know if they fall below a certain level there are others to take their places.

The only injury doubt the Shakers have is surrounding Lee Unsworth who yesterday had a scan on an injured ankle.

He is likely to miss the next two games and that could open the door for Matt Barrass to return after his virus problem.

Barrass got in 90 minutes action in the reserves 4-2 victory over Macclesfield on Wednesday and Preece will wait to see how he reacts to his first run out.

The Posh have made a decent return to Division Two so far with a 2-0 home defeat by Swansea on Bank Holiday Monday their only black spot.

They have just signed prolific Portsmouth striker Guy Whittingham on loan and he will make his full debut tomorrow if youngster Francis Green failes a fitness test after being concussed on Monday.

Posh boss Barry Fry also has a doubt about midfielder Ritchie Hanlon although the likelihood is he will turn out against the Shakers.

Peterborough will hoping to take three points off the Shakers with tough encounters against Stoke City and Wigan Athletic following in the next seven days.

And Preece is expecting a hard encounter as his side take on their third newly-promoted opponents in successive games.

"It's a similar game to the Rotherham match last week," he said. "They've just lost a home match and we could get a backlash.

"Barry Fry's teams always play attacking football and create plenty of chances so we'll have to be at our best defensively.

"They are a solid, experienced team with a few youngster thrown in and I'm sure they'll do alright in this division.

"They've had a decent start and probably think like we did after the Wrexham match that it's time to kick on again."
