AN inquest has been opened into the death of a Polish teenager who died days after suffering severe injuries in a road traffic accident.
Sixteen-year-old Mariusz Mazurek, who was due to return to Poland last Thursday (Aug 24) after a two-month visit to see relatives in Prestwich, died 24 hours earlier at North Manchester General Hospital.
The youngster had been on life support following the accident in Longsight Road, Holcombe Brook on August 21. Mariusz, from Gdansk, suffered two broken legs, a crushed pelvis and head injuries when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a waste disposal truck driven by Peter Lang (46) from Bolton.
Wednesday's (Aug 30) inquest was adjourned pending further police investigations.
