BURY woman Ada Garnett was given the perfect tonic in preparation for her 100th birthday this Sunday when her son arrived from Australia.
Geoffrey (70) and his wife Elsie landed earlier this week to be with Ada for the special occasion.
Born on September 3, 1900, Ada lived for more than 40 years with her other son, Harry, and his wife, Florence, in Elm Street, Bury.
Ada is believed to be one of the first people in Bury to get a driver's licence.
Said Harry: "She used to work in a laundry and it was part of her job to drive for them."
A party is planned for family and friends on Sunday (Sept 3) at the Gables residential home in Bury where Ada is now living.
Ada, pictured with sons Geoffrey (left) and Harry, also has four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
