A SECOND post mortem was ordered by Bury District Coroner Mr Barrie Williams into the death of a four-month-old infant found lying face down on the mattress in her cot.
The cause of death of Humira Uddin still has to be ascertained and consequently the inquest has been adjourned for further tests.
The baby girl died in Pendlebury Children's Hospital on August 18.
Coroner's officer Mr Geoff Cave said police inquiries into the incident had established that Humira was found lying face down on the mattress of a cot at her home in Ingham Street, Bury, on the evening of August 16. She had been placed in the cot earlier that day and had been wrapped in a blanket with a duvet covering her legs. She had also been checked later that afternoon.
Evidence of identification was given by the father, Mr Alla Uddin.
Paramedics attended the scene and Humira was taken to Fairfield General Hospital and later transferred to Pendlebury.
Following the first post mortem, the cause of death could not be determined and a further post mortem by a Home Office pathologist reported no further significant findings. Tests are continuing.
