BLACKBURN Rovers starlet David Dunn today said being made captain of England's Under 21s ranks as one of the proudest moments of his career.
The 20-year-old midfielder was handed the captain's armband before Wednesday night's 6-1 thrashing of Georgia at Middlesbrough's Riverside stadium.
And he capped a memorable night with a vintage display, scoring with a brilliant 20-yard curler after also setting up Everton's Francis Jeffers for England's third.
"It's a great honour to even play for country but to captain the team was amazing," said Dunn.
"It was a fantastic experience and I thought it was a great game.
"When Howard Wilkinson told me beforehand I was made up.
"And I think that was probably my best performance during my time with the squad.
"Howard had told me before the game that I was going to come off at half-time because I'd played quite a bit recently.
"But it was just a great team performance more than anything else."
