AS the running enthusiasts among you may remember, last spring I pounded the streets of London to achieve one of my lifetime ambitions - running my first ever marathon.

Getting round those 26.2 miles was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but I'll never forget the amazing feeling of achievement crossing that famous Mall finishing line.

For me it was up there with winning an Olympic Silver medal.

So, if you want to be part of the 30,000 strong field realising their ambitions on April 22, sign up now for the 2001 Flora London Marathon.

Why not give yourself a headstart by joining one of the biggest and the best charity teams and run for Mencap?

They'll provide you with all the training, advice and support you'll need to see you through and you'll have the added incentive of knowing you're raising funds for an excellent cause.

I'm committed to helping people develop and reach their full potential, which is why I support Mencap, the UK's leading charity for people who have a learning disability.

Did you know that in the average time it takes to run a marathon, four babies will be born with a learning disability in the UK?

To get your place you'll have to be quick off the mark. The London Marathon ballot for places closes on October 20. So contact Mencap today on 0845 777779 for more information.

Go on, you know you can do it!
