THE former Bold Moss Common will be alive with the sound of music this weekend when St Helens environmental charity, Groundwork stage a free musical extravaganza.
The outdoor Music on the Moss Festival, which also coincides with the official opening of the Colliers Moss Millennium Bridge, marks the completion of the millennium month of activities which have taken place in and around Bold and Parr. These included various arts and crafts, sporting contests and the Parr Carnival celebration.
But the biggest event of all will be taking place on Sunday, September 3 when various local musicians including the Golborne Brass Band, 'Jazz Pack', 'Jalapenos', the St Helens Musicians Collective and a steel band, gather near to the ampitheatre on the north side of Colliers Moss Common to perform at the festival.
It will also be attended by Mayor of St Helens, Councillor Pat Robinson after she officially opens the new Millennium Bridge at 2.30pm.
Music on the Moss starts at noon and runs to 7.30pm and entrance to the site is via the Brookway Lane entrance, Cement City, or via the Pit Wheel Bridge at the back of Bold Miners' Institute recreational ground in Fleet Lane.
